Elmo is a special story about two people, William Chiang and Giordano Caldarini, meeting by luck and collaborating through a shared passion in furniture. Each handles different task, but both contribute to the spirit behind the company.
In 1994, William returned to Hong Kong after studying accounting in America and started helping out his family’s antique furniture business, China Art. The company thrived and earned recognition from the media and within the industry by running galleries, hosting successful exhibitions, and achieving awards at competitions. Around 2007, William saw untapped potential and wanted to utilize the traditional craftsmanship to its fullest. Henceforth, he launched Elmo and started producing contemporary furniture.
Giordano came to Hong Kong from Castel Gandolfo, Rome with an Industrial Design degree from La Sapienza University. He wanted to explore the world through his skills as a designer and was particularly interested in old-fashioned woodworking techniques. Through meeting William and joining Elmo in 2012, Giordano was able to realize his dream and move forward in designing quality furniture products inspired by modern taste and needs.
We spend significant amount of time researching trends and techniques. Every piece of furniture is thoughtfully designed using FSC™ certified solid wood with traditional joinery. At Elmo, we create furniture “TRADITIONALLY MODERN”.
